Burning Out Slowly
61Candle life...
Burning out slowly;
not a candle in the wind.
With life not slowing down,
so when did it begin?
It's unlike burning paper
without the carvings too,
it answers to the bidding
so what else can it do?
It doesn't catch a break
like others, don't you see?
It's racing toward the finish
as if it's meant to be.
Burning down slowly
while almost at wits end,
can it take it anymore?...
then it catches second wind.
Burning out slowly,
it's melting, don't you see?
In hopes to glow forever
so, just let this candle be.

When I was a teenager, my daddy said, 'you're burning your candle at both ends.' And I took it that I was spending too much time being busy, and I should slow down. I have learned since to pace myself, and take life as it comes. Your poem gave me things to ponder on.
Sweet.
